About Mana O Maui

Heal. Surf.
Aloha.

Mana O Maui (MOM) is a nonprofit organization empowering Maui County residents through adventure education, surf therapy, Hawaiian cultural learning, and the healing arts.

Founded in 2023 by Dustin Tester — and lovingly dedicated to her mother — MOM builds on 25 years of experience with Maui Surfer Girls to deliver immersive, therapeutic programs that support mental, emotional, and physical well-being while fostering leadership skills and a deep connection to the land and ocean.

Our programs are free or subsidized — because no Maui family should be turned away due to cost.

Heal

We use surf therapy, nature-based learning, and the healing arts to support the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of Maui youth.

🏄

Surf

The ocean is our classroom. Surfing builds confidence, resilience, and a lifelong connection to the natural world that sustains this island.

🤙

Aloha

Everything we do is rooted in aloha — a spirit of care, community, and belonging that we cultivate in every participant, every session, every season.

Founder & Executive Director

B.S. Adventure Education

Dustin Tester is a lifelong adventurer and entrepreneur with over 25 years in business and recipient of two small business awards from the Maui Chamber of Commerce. A native of Maui and a seasoned multi-sport water athlete, she holds a bachelor's degree in Adventure Education from Prescott College and has extensive experience with the Voyager Outward Bound School and experiential education programs in California.

As founder of Maui Surfer Girls in 2001 — celebrated for 25 years last summer — Dustin spent two decades watching the ocean transform young women's lives. In 2023 she founded Mana O Maui to go further, weaving together surf therapy, Hawaiian cultural education, and adventure learning into programs that meet young people where they are. Her expertise in surf therapy and deep connection to the land and ocean are central to everything MOM delivers.

Passing her blessings forward to the next generation is her mission.
